Pick-Up Player Opportunities

Interested In Playing With Thunder?

Bay Area Thunder Baseball uses this pick-up player interest list to identify non-Thunder players who may be available for future short-term roster opportunities.

A pick-up player may be considered when a Thunder team has a tournament need, injury replacement, player absence, positional gap, or short-term roster situation. This does not mean every submitted player will be contacted, selected, or invited. It simply gives our coaches a pool of interested players to review when a need comes up.

We are not just looking for talent. We are looking for players and families who fit the way Thunder does baseball: character, sportsmanship, effort, attitude, accountability, coachability, respect for the game, and team-first behavior.

Who This Is For

A List For Future Pick-Up Needs

This page is for families outside of Bay Area Thunder who want their player considered if a Thunder team needs a guest player or short-term roster option.

1

Non-Thunder Players

This list is for players who are not currently rostered with Bay Area Thunder but would like to be considered for possible future opportunities.

2

Short-Term Availability

Players may be considered for tournaments, league events, roster gaps, injuries, absences, or other short-term team needs.

3

Qualified Players

Players should be able to compete at the appropriate age and skill level while bringing a positive, team-first approach.

4

Position-Specific Needs

Pick-up opportunities may depend on position needs such as pitching, catching, middle infield, outfield, or utility roles.

5

Culture Fit

Any player representing Thunder is expected to respect teammates, coaches, opponents, umpires, families, and the game.

6

No Guaranteed Spot

Joining the pick-up player list does not guarantee a roster spot, tournament invite, playing time, or future team placement.

What We Look For

More Than Talent. The Right Fit.

A player may be skilled, but that alone does not automatically make them a good pick-up fit for Bay Area Thunder. When a player joins us for a short-term opportunity, they are representing the Thunder name, the team, the coaches, and the culture.

We want players who can step into a team environment, respect the expectations, compete hard, communicate well, and support the group. The right pick-up player should make the team better without disrupting the culture.

Baseball Ability

Skill level, athletic ability, position fit, baseball IQ, game experience, and readiness to compete at the appropriate level.

Coachability

The ability to listen, adjust, communicate, receive instruction, and respect the coaches and team plan.

Effort & Attitude

Hustle, focus, positive body language, resilience, teammate support, and willingness to do the work.

Family Fit

Clear communication, respect for expectations, support for the process, and understanding that playing time is never guaranteed.
